The External Storage provides the storage network with storage from the connected external inventory.

Filter

The top row of the External Storage allows you to configure which resources can or cannot be inserted.

By default, the External Storage is in blocklist mode, meaning resources in the filter slots will not be allowed. An empty blocklist allows all resources.

You can switch to allowlist mode, where only listed resources will be allowed. If no resources are configured in allowlist mode, nothing will be allowed.

Changing the filters does not affect the contents of the storage or the contents available in the storage network.

Fuzzy mode

Fuzzy mode, off by default, determines whether the filter considers additional attributes, such as a pickaxe’s damage value.

Access mode

  • Insert and extract – The storage network can insert and extract resources.

  • Insert only – The storage network can only insert resources.

  • Extract only – The storage network can only extract resources.

Storage priority

The External Storage’s priority determines the order in which resources are inserted or extracted, with higher priorities taking precedence.

By default, insert and extract priorities are the same, but they can be configured separately if needed.

Void excess resources

When the storage is in allowlist mode, void excess resources mode can be enabled.

If this mode is active and a resource is allowed but there is no available space, the resource is still accepted, and the excess is voided.

This mode is only available in allowlist mode to ensure that voiding is a deliberate choice and to prevent accidental loss of resources.

Connection with other storage network devices

The External Storage connects to all adjacent blocks except the one in the direction it is facing.

If the External Storage is colored, it will only connect to blocks of the same color or the default color.

Redstone mode

The External Storage can be set to operate only when a specific redstone state is met.

  • Ignore – Always active, regardless of redstone.

  • High – Only works when receiving a redstone signal.

  • Low – Only works when no redstone signal is present.
